Destroyed past Right, specifics. Well, I came home from Leeds last night with all my cool Lush stuff (This list is just to remind myself what I need when I go to get all this stuff again in a few weeks - Middle Earth and Rock Star soaps, Arabian Brights hair shine, King of Skin moisturiser, Buffy exfoliator, Coolaulin conditioner). When I got in my mum seemed a bit quiet and I knew she had been to visit my grandparents. Well in truth, only one of them is my grandparent, the last one left alive incidentally. I asked her what was wrong and she proceeded to tell me this story. She was talking to my grandad and his new wife of 11 years and she happened to mention old photographs of her, her mum (my grandma whom I never met because she died of cancer when my mum was 18) and her sister. My grandad had mentioned that he had “sorted out” old photos a while back. Anyway, he went upstairs and PRETENDED to look for them and then sort of admitted that he’d thrown them all away. And I mean ALL! Every single photo of anyone that wasn’t his new wife. He had none left from his wedding to my grandma, or my mum when she was a baby, or the photo albums that my grandma had from when she was a girl at school. He didn’t offer them to my mum or my aunt; he just erased everything from my mum’s family without a second thought. It was so selfish, my and my cousins had never seen this pictures and he had just chucked them all away. My mum was so upset because… it was like he wanted to erase everything about my grandma and as she said, he might have a new wife but she only had one mother. I’m so angry with them and I don’t think I’ll be talking to them for a long time to come. Rob rang me up last night but I was still kinda upset about it and I fell asleep soon after that. I hate seeing my mum cry. Laura sent me a text this morning with some really odd information in it and I need to talk to her to confirm but… if it’s true then why didn’t he tell me? |
